NASA declared that the James Webb space telescope captured blinding ifrared light from Mars.

NASA further stated that the new images will help in the study of the red planet.

The telescope was so sensitive that the astronomers had to make adjustments to prevent the blinding lights from saturating the detectors of the telescope.

Some images show the rings of Huygens crater, the dark volcanic rock of Syrtis Major.

Webb can capture spectra and images with spectral resolution needed to study short term phenomena like dust storms.
